Cooking Tips

Cooked Vegetable Tips:

  1. Most vegetable need little to no water added when cooking waterless. Rule of thumb is to add just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. This will allow for a safe heating process to assure you will not burn your vegetables. Potatoes need a little extra water because they will absorb moisture during the cooking process.
  2. Choose a saucepan for your vegetable that will be just big enough. Fill it as full as possible. This holds and keeps the heat even throughout the cooking process.
  3. Start the pan at medium to medium high. Heat until the lid starts to move and steam is trying to escape. Test by spinning lid it should make several revolutions. Reduce heat to low. Cook until preferred doneness 8‑15 minutes. Harder vegetables such as carrots and potatoes need longer than softer vegetables like cabbage and broccoli.
  4. It is scientifically proven that the nutrients in vegetables are better absorbed by the body if they are cooked at a low temperature without adding water which leaches out the nutrients and flavor. You will be surprised how much better the food tastes and how much better you will feel if you use the pans properly.

Frying Tips:

  1. It is very important to preheat your pan before you fry any meat or eggs.  Preheat your pan over medium to medium high for 2 minutes.  For meats you do not need to add grease or oil just put the meat in the preheated pan.  The meat will stick at first but then release as it browns.  Once the meat is browned on all sides cover the pan and reduce the heat to low.  For eggs you will need non-stick cooking spray or a small amount of oil.  Preheat your pan, spray with cooking spray and pour the egg mixture in the pan.  For scrambled eggs let the eggs began to form before you stir.  Use a spatula and turn the eggs.   You can cover eggs briefly for a softer texture.

Baking Tips:

  1. You can try any type of cake in these pans. The key is to get the pan hot by adding a small amount of water and placing the lid on the pan with heat at medium to medium high. Once the pan is thoroughly heated and the steam from the water is try to escape add a small amount of melted butter or oil (3 tbsp) to keep the cake from sticking. Add mixture then repeat the baking steps listed in the pineapple upside‑down cake recipe.
  2. Most any recipe for the oven can be done on top of the stove in your waterless cookware. It will taste better, save energy and create less clean up.
